Children’s Ministries

Early Childhood

While parents participate in our ministries, newborns and walkers up to age two are given loving care in one of our nurseries.

Purpose: To partner with parents in GUIDING children into a relationship with GOD, GROUNDING them in God’s Word, and helping them discover their God-given GIFTS so that they may GROW into fully-devoted followers of Christ.

Sunday Morning Program

  • GOD – Take children through the Bible systematically with the use of small group teaching in order for them to learn God’s Word for what it is and practically apply it.
    • 9:00 – 9:30 — Check-in/Activity Centers (K5 – 2nd, 3rd – 5th)
      Children will be checked in at this time and sent to a K-2 or 3-5 large group meeting room. For this time period there will be a variety of activity centers spread throughout the room allowing kids to join in wherever their interests lie and rotate as needed. Supervising adults will wander throughout the room keeping an eye on things and chatting with the kids. Example – Legos, art, games, etc.
    • 9:30 – 10:00 — Bible Breakouts (GOD)
      Children take part in a small group interactive teaching session, broken up by grade and gender. Here they are taken systematically through the Bible and challenged to apply it to their lives.
  • Kidtown HallGROWTH – Teach children how to live for Christ every day through the use of large group teaching, worship and hands-on application.
    • 10:00 – 10:30 — Construction Zone
      Children will once again join up in a K-2 or 3-5 large group. This time will include some type of craft/project to go along with the Bible Breakout. At the end of this time they will have a reminder of the Bible truth that they can take home with them.
    • 10:30 – 11:00 — Worship (K-5th grade)
      Children will take part in an active worship time involving music, prayer, media clips, verses, skits, and announcements. This time will also allow for any children arriving or leaving to easily transition.
    • 11:30 – 12:00 — Life Builders +
      Children will take part in a challenge in which they have to apply that week’s Bible truth in order to successfully complete the challenge. This will give the kids hands-on experience in applying that truth to their everyday lives.

Sunday Evening Program

  • GIFTS – Give children the opportunity to discover and develop their God-given gifts and skills.

Please Note: At no point in time will children be dismissed to move on to the next activity with no supervision. All transitions will happen as a group and involve adult supervision. For security reasons, we will no longer dismiss children at the end of a service. Parents are expected to come and pick up their child immediately following the end of a service.

AWANA

This exciting program for children age three through sixth grade is a highlight for families at South Baptist! Under excellent leadership, children have fun while learning about God, memorizing Bible verses, and participating in a variety of activities. AWANA meets on Wednesday evenings during the school year.

Other special ministries and activities for children include the annual Easter egg hunt, the children’s day camp held each summer, and the annual children’s Christmas musical.

Nursery and preschool programs are provided during many of our regularly scheduled ministries.
